Default J8 UTG 5bb easy push by ICM?

5 handed
blinds 200/400

UTG: Hero 2000
CO Player1 3000
Button player2 3000
SB player3 2000
BB player4 3000

Hero: J [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img]8 [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img]

I thought about this. Seems like an easy fold when you first look at it.
But let's say they all call with: (44+,A7s+,A9o+,KJs+)
SNGPT gives EV= -0.5
Although it says the fold ev is zero. makes it 16.4% of pricepool. However the next hand you are the bigblind, so the fold ev isn't really zero is it?
More like 14.1% of pricepool. And even if you get a walk on the big blind half the time (14.1+16.4)/2 =15.25 it's less than 15.9% of pricepool that is ev push.

So it seems this would be a rather easy push. I hope you have som comments on the reasoning, since I haven't tried these calcualtions to much, maybe it's all wrong if you have to consider some other facts or whatever.

Even if you push you're still paying the big blind next hand right, did you take that into account?

Not if he looses.

Everyone's in the same crappy spot, I think your ranges are a little on the tight side.

I am a lot more inclined to do this with less chips like 4 BB or less. It's a different story if the blinds are about to go up.

Yeah, I was more about the general situation.
5BB are not that short, you're right - but sometimes you have to shove hands your icmtool doesn't want you to shove, just wanted to tell that by my comment.

They'll call a fair bit looser than that, particularly the BB. I think A2s+, A5+, K9s+, KT+, QJ, QTs, 22+ will call me with his stack. SB about the same range.

I'd be willing to consider it for one reason: two of bigger stacks will be the blinds when I'm on the button next time. If I've paid two blinds, I'm only pushing 1400 into them and I think I get called by a pretty wide range.

Yes the ranges might be a bit of. But is the calculation given the ranges correct or do you have to consider anyting else?
