future,

"ummm no. it has been shown what a horrible call it was if gobbo had known williams hadnt looked at his cards and he was up against a random hand. good poker players arent up agaisnt random hands on the river."

This makes no sense. If David hadn't looked at his hand, he was up against a random hand.

What the heck difference does it make that Williams didn't look at his cards as far as judging the merit of Gobbo's call?

gobbo,

My bad. I had read on one of the sites that David made a "large overbet" and assumed that was correct and he had made a bet significantly larger than the pot. However, looking at the updated account w/ bet sizes and listening to your interview (btw, nice job not slapping her when she asked how you came to that decision), I realize that they were simply talking about a "large bet."

Nonetheless, my general comment still stands. I don't see how your analysis or play is worthy of much celebration given the fact that David did not look at his cards (assuming that is correct).

I'm sure you made plenty of excellent plays to put yourself in the position you got to deep in the tourney. I bet there were a number of hands that you actually better played than this, but instead people are imo focusing on the wrong things.

Hope that makes sense and congrats on the finish, even though the end was sorta disappointing.

are you saying

a) had gobbo known it was a random hand it's a good, but not that great of a call.

b) even if gobbo didn't know it was a random hand it's a good, but not that great of a call.

c) it's a bad call if gobbo knew it was a random hand.

d) it's a bad call if gobbo didn't know it was a random hand.

tech,

I reserve my right to change this based on exact chip counts, but...

a and either b or d, depending on how David plays. c if the river bet actually turns out to have been a little bigger than I currently think it was.

I think the "depending on how David plays" qualifier swings this substantially more to b than d

And did you watch the video? Gobbo's analysis is excellent.
