Employment as a Poker Prop
I've been wondering what the going rate is for prop players in Vegas.
How does one go about applying for this? And assuming successful employment, do they get price breaks on hotel rooms? |

Does Vegas even need prop players?

Re: Employment as a Poker Prop
I can't imagine a worse job. If you're a winning player, then you're FAR better off to retain your independent player status -- and, with it, your freedom to engage in proper game selection and your best possible play. To put it another way: the most you're going to earn as a prop works out to about 1bb/hr (pre-tax, assuming you never play above 4/8). The disadvantage you'll incur (from having to persistently play shorthanded at the worst games in the house) will easily be -1bb/hr, probably significantly more. Remember, as soon as the game gets bad, you're in; as soon as the game gets good, you're out. q/q |

I've been wondering what the going rate is for prop players in Vegas. [/ QUOTE ] minimum wage. And the only place that hires prop players is Sam's Town and Joker's Wild. It's great if you dont mind playing 2/4 limit for a living. This isn't LA. Props aren't used widely and no you wont get deals at hotels and so on. You'll get 5.15/hour, no benefits, and stuck playing 2/4 limit and you have no choice in the matter. |
