Default Is there a term for this?

Recently a close friend passed away.

As a result, old friends seem to have this desire to not let the friendship "wither away" again.

I am under the impression this would be fairly common, seems like human nature.

What is this called? I tried wiki, google, webmd....found nothing.

Even if this isn't exactly what you're looking for, there's some interesting theories about friendships.
