Default lol 80/160 2-7

4 handed BEOT. Villain seems to have some understanding of all the games and is probably a winner under many lineups but seems to lack some very obvious fundamentals in this game which is surprising because this game is like the easiest to play straightforward in. I've snowed almost every hand I've played but luckily the only showdown I've seen in BT games I won with 96 against 98 so I haven't been caught thieving. In other games I have shown down sane hole cards.

Fold to villain in sb he raises, I call in BB with 2239J, he draws 2 I draw 3

I catch 8 and call draw 1/2

I catch 4 he checks I check he pats and dark bets

I catch 6 so I have #6 and I raise and definitely folding to a 3bet because nobody is going to spazz out in this game from what I have seen. Anything he value bets I am expecting him to call a raise but I don't know if he's vbet a T6 or something here because I'm not used to this passivity and have no clue what his range is like here.

When you say that you draw 1/2 does that mean you only drew one card despite having two bad ones? If so, is the deception of drawing less cards than you should "optimally" really worth it? I've never considered doing this unless I am totally snowing.

he drew 1 I drew 2 then he checked which is what I mean by him making some fundamentally wrong plays. Over the night I saw him check when he was a card ahead and the correct play was to dark bet more than a few times.

no it means first to act (vilain) drew 1 and hero drew 2.

I am not sure I see the question OP, the whole hand seems uber standard to me. Very few people would bet a monster in the dark.

I would raise an 87532 here.

I think this is one of those hands where live games play fairly different from online. Raising 87532 here would be a big spew IMO. I think this is close, I would probably raise #5 but probably just call with this. His dark bet is showing a whole lot of strength, this should be obvious but the guy described sounds like this is never reverse strength. It might be a mistake to raise any 8 here.

I don't understand how his hand can be stronger than a T or a J or something. So after the second draw he looked at his card before making a decision. He obviously can't hope to get a c/r in since HOWMANY drew 2 cards in the 2nd draw. So really, if his play does show strength, he is not trying to get value from it.

Well, his entire play is very strange. How can you be one card ahead, get a card that you want to stand pat with and then check?

Yeah I announce 864 when he calls and he instantly announces 7 and tables a #4 and I almost burst out laughing that so few dollars went into the pot between all the streets. This was one of many hands I saw that night in which two "huge" hands went almost no bets compared to what I expect to see in any 10/20+ online game.

checking the 2nd draw and dark betting the end has me agreeing with deathdonkey, that I'm not sure you raise any 8 here, solely because vs someone that could be a huge donk, I'm not gona be a showdown monkey to try to get a beat on his play. I'm not going to be doing much raise/folding. I'm gona pay him off, thus I need to be 66% sure I have the best hand, and I'm not.

This is always a seven. Am I the only one here who's read Sklansky on Poker?

Ya he clearly thinks hes being sneaky with this slowplay, i think you need to be able to beat at least 1 seven to raise here. WHen he dark bets and i make 864 i would hemmm and hawww before just calling but knowing im about to wish i saved the bet.
