Default Suggestions for a 5 person game?

5 of us are getting together to play 3 rounds this weekend. Does anyone have any formats that would work for five people?

I'm thinking of maybe a modified Stableford, but side games or other ideas are welcome. We're probably going to have to split up into a threesome and twosome, so a lot of the traditional formats aren't possible.

On the upside, one of my friend's roommates is a sculptor, and we have commissioned a trophy for the winner.

Battle golf would be pretty interesting with a fivesome. Winner(s) of the hole get to take a club out of the
loser(s) bags. You can also regain one of your own clubs by winning a hole.
Most people wouldn't want to play their round without their precious driver, so they might not want to play.
The only rule I can think of right now is that you aren't allowed to take a putter away.
The game ends when someone is left with 4 clubs, but you can modify it as you see fit.

5 man wolf is pretty fun to play. it definitely makes it interesting with the teams being 3v2 on every hole.

Yeah, definitely try five man Wolf if you can all play together. It's a lot of fun with five and with five guys the last three holes the guy in last place can bid an amount of points up to the difference between him and the leader. This is one more hole than with four man, and often means you're just jockeying for position before things get bloody at the end.

"5-Man Amigos" works good

On each hole every one tees off

Two players on the left play the two players on the right.

Each team puts their score together. If team left gets a 4 and a 5 their team score is 45.

If team right gets a 5 and a 7 their team score is 57.

Team left wins the hole 45 to 57 and each player on the left team wins 12 "dimes" from each of the players on the right team.

The 5th player (who is in the middle after the tee shot) joins the winning team if he pars, the losing team if he bogeys or worse.

If he is on the winning team, the losing players each still lose 12 each but the winning side still only wins 24 (2 x 12) but it is split three ways or 8 "dimes" each.

Opposite happens when middleman bogeys or worse. ie each losing player loses 8, each winning player earns 12

If the middleman birdies the hole - he wins all of the dimes that the losing players owe.

If the winning team has a birdie the losing teams score is reversed ie birdie 3 bogey 5 for winning team = 35
par 4 doublebogey 6 for losing team = 64 which means 29 "dimes" for each winning player.

Eagles reverse and double

We also play carryovers if a hole is tied. Same partners are partners on the next hole in case of a tie and the money is doubled (that is when the big money is won or lost - a 4 hole carryover is not unheard of)

You usually end up with different partners each hole
