how is Requiem of a Dream not mentioned?

Great point. I'd also add in The Crow, Natural Born Killers, and Oh Brother Where Art Thou.

How has the Graduate not been mentioned yet. Paul Simon did a killer job on that one. Also, Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas has a great sound track of mostly classic rock tunes although Perry Cuomo is on there too. Toy Story from Randy Newman was pretty amazing. And I hate to say it but Elton did work on the Lion King.

A couple that haven't been mentioned:
-"The Good, the Bad and the Ugly" this soundtrack is amazing.
-"Once". Beautiful.

I like "Pulp Fiction" and "Kill Bill Vol. 1" as well, I think Tarantino does a very good job with soundtracks.
I like "Amelie" a lot.
I like "Requiem for a Dream" too, although it got tiresome after a while.

My guilty pleasure is "Queen of the Damned" although I haven't heard it in 3 years (my CD got stolen).

I agree that Purple Rain should be the winner.

As an honorable mention, how bout The Lost Boys, dated yes, but still a goodie.

I've always liked Last of the Mohicans.

Had you not mentioned this I would have marked off The Lounge as another forum where I'm too old and hopelessly out of touch.

That said I did like the music in Garden State.

Edit to add most of Amelie and all of Unfaithful.

All right, I have to throw in Armageddon. Only soundtrack I ever bought. Well, OK is also one of very few DVD's I ever bought.
