Default AP- Japan and India have filed for compensation

http://www.chron.com/disp/story.mpl/ap/fn/4905950.html

Japan and India, meanwhile, added extra pressure on the United States by filing WTO compensation requests as a result of Washington's attempt to change the details of its obligations under the 1994 General Agreement on Trade in Services.

Thanks Jay, keep us posted.

And the hits keep a coming, lol.

Never thought I would find myself actually rooting against myself so to speak.

A month ago I asked for odds on China filing. I don't think anyone would give them to me today.

This is getting funny now. I wonder if there is a single WTO member who will not claim against the US on this by the 22nd June deadline?

This is a slam dunk for all applicants, the US has lost already they are just trying to get paid off. The danger for us is that they don't care about players they just want a bargaining chip for Doha.

I'm no expert. This seems like a big deal to me.

Can someone with more knowledge peg this on the Big-Deal-o-meter? (1-10, 10 being a big deal.)

In terms of the WTO this is a 10.

In terms of the real world a 7.

In terms of the US currently about a 1 but it will rise to about a 7. The US needs the WTO and they are in complete disarray over this.

I would say a max of 50.
As I understand it, the schedule at odds, 101 countries opted out of 964 totally, 50 agreed to it or a portion of it (the U.S. a portion).

Great news. How much compensation can Japan receive? I didn't know that they had much of an online gaming industry. I have read that India has some online gaming business.
Isn't Macao in China? So their filing would be big.
