Default Youtube on Linux

So there's a video/audio synchronization issue with Flash video, which Youtube and Google Video use to broadcast. I figured out how to download the flash video directly, and also can convert it to mpeg video (which would theoretically play fine) using ffmpeg.

The bad part is that the "sound lag" is preserved during conversion, so the mpeg is just as worthless as the original.

Does someone know of a trick to repair that during conversion, without using anything other than linux boxes along the way?
