I am fine with the way you played the hand based on the read of the villain. The question is what do you do if the villain 3-bets the river? If you c/r you better be prepared to call, the problem is a lagtard sometimes does stupid things like check turns with top-pair top kicker to encourage a river bet - just so they can raise you one more time since ego is more important to this player type than winning.
