QB's have more of an influence on YAC than the WR.

How so? I think YAC would come from good O. Coordinators and WR's. What does the QB have to do with it above putting the ball in the receivers chest?

Throwing it to open guys? QBs who always check down or always settle for 5 yd outs are going to have a lot fewer YAC than guys who take shots deep. Or if not, then the other way around, or whatever. Always finding the open guy and throwing it to whoever is most likely to break one are big parts of being a good QB.

ldo. But I mean, the QB doesn't have much control over getting his WR's wide open. That is primarily up to the coordinator and WR's. The QB needs to find them, and hit them. But it sure as hell ain't easy to get "wide open" in the NFL. And even if you are, and you get hit with a pass, you are usually tackled within 5 yards.

Curious to see how Alex Smith does especially if you take away that last meaningless pass of the first half as time expired...

54.8

48.533950617283956 if you treat that pass as not happening.

47.32142857142858 if you treat that pass as an incompletion (as it should have been called).
