Re: Kitchen Nightmares (show on Fox)
Kinda funny, tonight's episode was held in a resturaunt I've eaten at. I ate there about 4-5 years ago, before it went down the craphole. The food wasn't memorable considering I don't remember eating there and had to be reminded by my hubby exactly when it was that we dined there.
I love how all these places are on LI. I can't wait to see if I know the next crappy resturaunt. I do recall a fav Indian place of mine going down in April of this year for a little and they did open up with a new name.. I wonder... |

Re: Kitchen Nightmares (show on Fox)
I've been watching the BBC Kitchen Nightmare shows on Youtube since I found out about them here, and they are incredible. This is great tv. Gordon Ramsay isn't just a good guy; he's patient, instructive, even inspirational. I can't believe it's the same guy from the American shows.
Hell's Kitchen was crappy, and it made Ramsay look like a buffoon. The American Kitchen Nightmares is barely better. Everything about it is amateurish, especially the oppressive background music. Why do American tv networks and producers have such contempt for us that they would take a great show and ruin it (twice)in 12 different ways? Gordon Ramsay is either selling out or his agent misplaced him on network tv. I'm sure the right cable show could show him off properly. |

Re: Kitchen Nightmares (show on Fox)
I've enjoyed Kitchen Nightmares for the train wreck appeal.
One funny thing I noticed is that when they fixed Dillon's Restaurant, one thing they did was give the place a nice, new awning. Unfortunately, they spelled the name of the restaurant "Dillion's." Oops. |

Re: Kitchen Nightmares (show on Fox)
This show is so ridiculously obviously painfully faked.

Re: Kitchen Nightmares (show on Fox)
the english version is great, so many great episodes and situations. like the dog [censored] on the kitchen floor in one ep. or the head chef who couldn't cook anything - 'i can't believe you can't make a [censored] omelette!'
excellent. |

Re: Kitchen Nightmares (show on Fox)
i've seen both versions of the show and enjoyed them both for the different reasons black_drake originally posted. the us show has been good so far with the exception of last week's ep, thought it was pretty boring.
the soul shack ep from the uk series is the best |

Re: Kitchen Nightmares (show on Fox)
BTW,
Every ep of the English show goes as follows : - Gordon turns up to restaurant and displays his disgust using a plethora of swear words. - Gordon declares that the menu must be simplified and that the restaurant must go 'back to basics'. If it is on the sea, fresh fish will feature prominently on the menu. If it is in the countryside, potatoes. - Cue shot of a topless Gordon putting on his chef outfit. - Gordon displays how to make the dishes then marches around town like a bellend publicising the restaurant. - The staff are shoddy but they pull together and the evening is a decent success. - Gordon is happy with the evening but maintains there is a long way to go. He pulls on his leather jacket and skulks off into the night. |
