WSOP Event #1 Structure: Apparently no antes during NL half!
Here's the structure that Harrah's posted on its website for WSOP Event #1, which is half NL, half LHE. It appears that the green chips get raced off after level 4 and there are absolutely no antes! I'm not complaining necessarily, but if they couldn't design a structure that involved NL tournament play with antes, then they should have made it 1/2 PLHE 1/2 LHE. Right?
Pardon me if this has been discussed or if I'm missing the part of the posted structure where antes come into play. Also, I think it would be cooler or whatever to play hour long levels for each game, rather than dividing the hour into two. I also think it would make more sense to start with the limit portion. I'm excited to play nonetheless.

Well I know Joe Cassidy is playing this event, but he doesnt check 2+2. So maybe its only u me and Joe in the event.
In that case I am happy about the no antes. Seems like I have atleast a 30 percent chance of winning event #1

I don't know what there is to say. There are no antes. I'm sure that is an attempt to make the limit and NL sections of more nearly equal weight, but I think that they have still failed. I would like to see the fixed limit levels be higher for each round -- I'm thinking that the level 2 fixed limit blinds would be better on level 1 and so on. It is a near-lock that we will see way more bustouts in the NL phase. There is a good chance that many players will have substantial NL tourney experience and make significant mistakes in the fixed limit phases.

That makes the NL portion more like the old Party Poker, pre-ante MTTs. I don't mind, since I think I'll be able to adjust to that type of structure, but, again, they should have made it PL/LHE if they couldn't devise an NL structure to employ antes.
