Re: Kitchen Nightmares (show on Fox)
Ive watched the US episodes online, never saw the UK ones. While parts of it do seem very fake, I find it interesting that all 3 restaurants so far have been failing because of completely incompetent management. He may seem harsh when he rips in to them but they all deserve it.

Re: Kitchen Nightmares (show on Fox)
From watching the ones that have aired in the US, they are definitely watchable. I do prefer the UK version, but the US ones are pretty good too. One thing I don't like though is how the show throw a heap of money into redesigning the restaurant, revitalising the kitchen, getting new staff in etc - something I haven't seen them do in the UK version particularly. At least it seems that they are doing that. Cheapens the effect Ramsay can have - he turned around several restaurants in the UK with sheer effort alone.

Re: Kitchen Nightmares (show on Fox)
I guess by "East Coast," they mean "Long Island."
Which, of course, means that the restaurants featured will have a cross section of some of the most abject humans found anywhere. I mean, the one episode with all the fake mobsters? The GM with the tight shirts and the gold chains? You know--the goombah they keep showing in all of the previews (who is actually getting all aggro with a 60 year old guy who "loaned him money")? I was hoping a meteorite would hit the place. The one last night, where the entire staff was tawking about the "raw sewage smell" in the lovely old Seascape Restaurawnt? And how the owna/son/managah's fatha neva gave him a compliment? Whateva. Anyway, this show is identical every single week. IDENTICAL. But I watch it anyway because I like it. |
