Default Ante Up for Africa?

Ante Up For Africa

Anyone playing? What % of the prize pool goes to charity? What charity? I guess it's a "bracelet event!"

Why don't we just all go to Mali and play some NL and give the chips to the children

Not a bracelet event...

Players are expected to donate 50% of their winnings to one of several charities...

Structure will be designed so that the event ends in 5-6 hours (since the tourney is starting late in the afternoon the day before the ME)...

Wow I just noticed

Thu, Jul 5th
12:00:00 AM

Does that mean it really starts at midnight? Also, "expected to donate..." seems like an absurd way to structure a charity payout.

I'm registered to play - It starts at 4pm (not 5pm, as listed) on 7/5.

Annie told me a bit about this. Apparently the Nevada Gaming Commission wouldn't let them require players give a cut to charity, so they just "expect" you to do it. But you'd have to be a real douche to play and not make the donation.

meh, i wanted to play in a $5K nl event and missed all of them, so i'm going to not play this one b/c i cant afford to make a donation of 50% EV to charity, or, at least not THAT charity.
