We are aware of the issues you mention in regards to the PL/NL games. A change has been made to the way VPPs are awarded. This change is so new the website has not been updated.VPP per hand VPPs for low-limit and 6-handed tables
.
All fixed limit tables with limits up to $1-2 will give the first VPP when the rake is $.40.
.
All NL/PL tables up to $1-2 blinds will give the first VPP when the rake is $.40.
.
All 6-max tables will give a second VPP at $2 instead of $3. Note this is not true for games being played 6-handed at 9-player tables – just 6-max tables.

thats about the same time as the legislation so I would say most lower and mid stakes players shoud se a big increase in
vpp per hand

old PS fpp award system 1 fpp = 1 vpp

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

1. Earn FPPs for cash game play
One (1) Frequent Player Point (FPP) is awarded for playing a hand in which the rake reaches:

$0.50 for fixed limit poker games with stakes $0.50/$1.00 and lower
$0.75 for fixed limit poker games with stakes $1/$2
$1.00 for
pot limit poker games
no limit poker games
fixed limit poker games with stakes $2/$4 and higher
2. Earn FPPs for tournament play
Five (5) FPPs are awarded for each $1 in tournament fees paid.

For example, if you play in a $20+$2 poker tournament, you will be awarded 10 FPPs (5 FPPs x 2). Please note that partial Base FPPs (FPPs that you earn from actual game or tournament play) are rounded up to the next whole number. However, extra FPPs that you get because of VIP levels do not get rounded up - they are stored as fractional numbers and accumulate accordingly. FreePlay tournaments do not award FPPs because you pay no entry fee for those tournaments

$10/20 NL FR (15K hands) : 0.8976 VPP/hand

* Note: $10/20 NL FR VPP/hand is less than $5/10 NL FR. This is correct and was like this pre-legislation as well...

right. that was the old system.

Now it's a $0.40 rake at 1/2 and lower for a point.

Also - I still don't understand all this talk about pre-UIGEA.

The UIGEA was in October which is also when Party pulled out I believe.
Jared's thread was started in January and continued well after that.
So many of the numbers that were mentioned were indeed post-UIGEA.
there were even some posts from people who said all their data was post-UIGEA.

If you want to try to figure out whether the numbers have changed that much as the post-UIGEA era has continued on and that's interesting to you then go ahead.
But everyone claiming that all those numbers were pre-UIGEA is something I'm not quite getting.

The point of my 2 posts was thet Poker Stars lowered the VIP/VPP requirements st about the same time as the UIGEA. so for lower level playes they should still see a dramatic increase in VPP/hand compared to pre UIGEA in spite of the tighter tables.

just for comparison last summer June - August 2006
NL 1/2FR I was getting 0.35vpp/hand that was under the old system for awarding vpp
adjust those same hands to what they would have been under the current system and I would have gotten 0.60vpp/hand

you can compare those #s to someones current results

*edit* small sample size 10000 hands

Rams, it's how you calculate the VPP's in PT that determines your VPP's/hand for the purpose of this thread. Yes, Stars did lower the VPP requirements, but if you calculate the VPP's the same way in Poker Tracker you won't notice a difference. Your hands are raked at the same rate.
