The only thing in music that can possibly put me on tilt is stolen music. When some wannabe new wave artist steals some great old rhythms and then makes millions claiming its his - see Black Eyed Peas and alikes.

I take it you're not a fan of Zeppelin then?

I can forgive them for having Jimmy Page, lets put it this way

He collaborated with lots of bands in his time and covered a countless number of songs. His a great guitarist and its understandable that he replayed a lot of other's music. They did not give the correct credit in a dozen cases or so, I don't see this is a big deal given the situation. Led Zeppelin did not make a fortune on these songs either, just covers.

Not quite the same as ripping off http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZIU0RMV_II8 and making top5.

and i read today that Led Zeppelin are reforming with the drummer's son for a one-off gig in london, in November.

You've got a chance to go there and tilt.

corsakh - these bands (from what I understand) have to consent to the use of samples in music. So basically you've got these bands from 40 years ago that are suddenly realizing income they never thought possible. Sounds like a pretty sweet deal to me.

I'm guessing 90% of the music you listen to is derivative indie-rock crap. How close am I?

Indeed it sounds good if this is the case (even though they should probably thank Tarantino in the first place But this practice still disgusts me. You can hear Mozart, Morricone, etc samples all over the place - who gives the consent in these cases? This may not be such a strong case in US, but judging from what emerges in Russia - this is freaking terrible. People just rip off whole albums - music from one place, lyrics from the other and I really doubt anyone asks them about copyrights

About Led Zep. I mean these songs is not what they became famous for. A lot of modern "MTV" artist made their name on some good old remake.

I don't know about Morricone, but Mozart is in the public domain.
