Default Computer Dumbass Question

Hey everyone,

I wanted to "free up some space" on my computer since it has been running slower than normal.

I have 7.7GB worth of stuff on my Itunes (vids and mp3 files) and I was thinking of saving them to some DVD-RWs and then erasing them from my hard drive.

I'm a complete computer noob, so I'm not sure if this will have any effect/ is a good thing to do.

Any tips on making your computer run faster/erasing empty, needless memory space would be great thanks!
