Joe Jackson
X: Steppin' Out Y: You Can't Get What You Want (Till You Know What You Want) X: Is She Really Going Out With Him? Y: Fools In Love Joe Jackson deserved two, and for each "X", I tried to refer to a "Y" that was of the same general type of song, but much better, yet way less popular. |

[/ QUOTE ] huge Joe Jackson fan here. I like Steppin' Out better than Can't Get What You Want. The 2nd one is a bit better though. Again though, Is she really is a pretty good song. But Fools in Love is marginally better. Another one: Ben Folds - x - Brick y - Song for the Dumped (or lots of other songs) |

Re: known for \"X \"song but \"Y\" is better
Well, I admit I'm such a sucker for the Body & Soul album that, imho, anything on it pretty much trumps the whole Night & Day album. And Ellen Foley's (or is it Sue Foley, I forget) background vocals on that record make me swoon.
Still, for my money, I'm mostly digging on the special edition live CD that came with copies of his Joe Jackson Band reunion album. The playing on it is badass, and Graham Maby's always been an influence of mine. Anyone who digs on Joe Jackson is cool like dat in my book. |
