Default How do you keep a live bankroll?

Hoping some live grinders can help me out here:

I am primarily an online player, but I am starting to get into the live scene on the side. How should I manage a live portion of my BR? I'll be playing 5/5 NL live. I am definitely rolled for the game based on the money I have online.

Do you recommend I just keep X buy-ins in cash on me and store it somewhere so I don't have to always try to withdrawal and deposit money? If so, how many buy-ins should I keep in cash? (Not necessarily on me, but stored in my house or whatever.)

get a safety deposit box at the local casino and store monies there. i dont think its necessary for 5/10 because 5K should be more than enough from session to session and it can easily be concealed in a pocket.

if u are playing in an underground club use credit and keep as little cash on u as possible.

What is the buyin on your 5/5 game? I would keep 5 buyins in cash around and then just watch your swings over time and see if you have any that are greater than 5 buyins, if your biggest swing is 3 buyins, trim it down to that, its not like you have to plan for the worst case, just making sure you have enough cash on hand 90-95% of the time has always worked fine for me

Games are underground. Why would you recommend using credit? They often take juice and it can make things a hassle/stressful in general.

Buy-in is $500, by the way. Most of the people buy in for that much or more.

get a copy of supersystem (hardback) and keep some in there

also keep some in the drawer of you nightstand and some other books

when you are ready to out, get it and put it in your pocket

but don't leave the bathroom door open when you are taking a shower, or your girlfriend will sneak in and look in your pockets and figure out that you are playing poker instead of studying all night

I am guessing the reason credit was suggested could be due to possibility of a raid and wanting to have as little cash on you as possible should a raid happen. I have very little underground experience but the few I played were on the fence of getting raided and my friend I went with just kept all cash in play in his shoe between sock and shoe (he would just go to bathroom if he busted and come back with rebuy). I thought it was dumb at the time (but mimicked his play as I was unfamiliar), two weeks after I was there it got busted and he walked out with $1,500 in his shoes and only lost the $700 in play so I cant fault his play.

Also it sounds like the min buyin is $500 since you said "some do much more". If you plan on buying in for $500 then I would just keep $2,500 around and see how things go.

Use the bank. Find one that has free ATM (or pays you back for fees), have them raise your daily limit to $2000-$2500.

I have two bank accounts - one for poker and one for everything else.

Works for me ::shrug::
