shaniac, jerry garcia may be the worst answer to try and fit bill in this thread. anyone who sells millions of albums and isnt really known for his studio album seems pretty legitimately famous.

I wish I could make a bet on how many people will post famous people. This is almost as sure fire as betting how long hot people get posted in not that hot girl threads.

OK, as many have rightly indicated, there are too many actually full-on famous people being mentioned. Freddie Mercury? John Candy? Jerry Garfrickincia? These people are mega-famous.

To me, the only good answers thus far have been GG Allin, Joe Strummer, the guy from The Manic Street Preachers, Johnny Thunders, and Rockets Redglare.

I'll add one: Spaulding Gray.

Joe Strummer was very famous, and Spaulding Gray was pretty famous too.

Good choices for people to miss though. I was definitely sad to see those guys go. Especially the way Spaulding went.

I bet both of them could go weeks in total anonymity. Also, SG is a great answer for this thread.

I think it's just another form of e-penis comparison. It's the same thing with things like the "obscure movie thread" from ED's forum. Essentially the competition is to come up with something the plebes haven't heard of but is well enough known so that the cognoscenti will give you your respect. How I feel about this kind of game usually oscillates between fun and tiresome.
