I would like to be in, but I am pretty damn busy at work. Up to you, I will probably have on the order of time I had on turf wars (so I would probably lynched as a wolf day 2 or 3 regardless of my role).

INTRODUCTION

(click for video)

The Cylons were created by Man.

They were created to make life easier on the Twelve Colonies.

And then the day came when the Cylons decided to kill their masters.

After a long and bloody struggle, an armistice was declared.

The Cylons left for another world to call their own.

A remote space station was built, where Cylon and Human could meet and maintain diplomatic relations.

Every year, the Colonials send an officer.

The Cylons send no one.

No one has seen or heard from the Cylons in over forty years.

Until now.

I may choose to be out, but I suggest letting me have a crack at the ruleset before you start the game.

Bump

Sorry, didn't get rules and stuff finished before leaving, but should have it up later today... need to review the show quite a bit to figure out precisely how I want to structure it.

BATTLESTAR GALACTICA, SEASON ONE: SETUP

THE COLONIALS (19 in total: 3 power roles, 15 vanilla)
The survivors of the Twelve Colonies. This includes several officers, pilots, specialists, and civilians. This is the village faction.

Win conditions: Eliminate all Cylons. They may also have to eliminate Gaius Baltar, but only if he gains certain powers.

VANILLAS: 15 vanillas. They will be told that they are "a Colonial" -- all will be given a character name in their death write-up, based on story timing alone; these names have no bearing on the WW game itself.

POWER ROLES

COMMANDING OFFICER: Commander Bill Adama
The highest-ranking officer in the remaining Colonial Fleet, and CO of the Battlestar Galactica.

Powers: The ability to throw three people into the brig -- ie, 3 night vigilante shots. However, Adama's efficiency (the likelyhood his shot will succeed) is variable based on time and various in-game actions. Only successful shots count towards his 3-shot total; if he misses due to a low-efficiency, he can continue shooting until he has 3 successful kills.

His efficiency begins at 100%. If he refrains from taking his shot at night, his efficiency drops 3%; if he takes the shot and misses, his efficiency drops 5%; if he takes the shot and succeeds, his efficiency drops 7%. His efficiency can also be affected by other game decisions, and by neutral Gaius Baltar. The LOWEST his efficiency can drop is 10%.

Adama may cooperate with President Laura Roslin to gain additional one-shot, pro-village powers. Please see the section explaining this below.

MASTER-AT-ARMS: Sergeant Hadrian
While disliked by much of the crew, including Commander Adama, Sergeant Hadrian is in charge of investigating many security issues aboard the Galactica.

Powers: Seer.

PRESIDENT OF THE TWELVE COLONIES: Laura Roslin
Former Secretary of Education, sworn in as President after the Cylon attack. Diagnosed with cancer.

Powers: Vote-buyer; can buy three votes every day (this will drop to two votes once half the players have been eliminated). Like Commander Adama, the efficiency of her votebuying can be affected by in-game events or by neutral Gaius Baltar. However, her efficiency does not decrease on a daily basis. Roslin's votebuys must be submitted no later than 15 minutes after nightfall (but can be submitted in advance).

Roslin may develop low-efficiency seer peeks later in the game.

Roslin may cooperate with Commander Adama to gain additional one-shot, pro-village powers. Please see the section explaining this below.

THE CYLONS (5 in total: all vanilla)
The wolf faction. All are vanilla wolves.

Win conditions:

Powers: One night-kill per night. Can speak privately, only at night.

The Cylons have the ability to divert the village from lynching, from up to 3 consecutive nights (this ability can be subverted by neutral Gaius Baltar -- see his character).

This diversion is achieved by activating a tracking device aboard the Galactica at night. This can be done once, and only once.

The following day, it will be announced in-thread that the tracking device has been activated, and a list of 15 locations will be posted, along with one hint. On days that the tracker is active, the village will vote for one location (to search for the tracker) and also will vote for a lynch as normal.

If the tracker is in the location with the highest votes, then it is deactivated and that day's lynch will also occur; if the wrong location wins the vote, then no lynch will occur.

On the second day, the list will be narrowed to 9; on the third day, the list will be narrowed to 3. A new hint will also be posted each day. If the village has still failed to find the tracker after day 3, it will be automatically found and disabled during the night.

The downsides to activating the tracker: The Cylons have no knowledge of the tracker's location (it is random) and once the tracker is disabled (either by the village or automatically after 3 days), one random Cylon will be outed by the mod in-thread. If Gaius Baltar disables the tracker, a player of his choice will be "outed" in-thread.

Win Conditions: The Cylons must eliminate all other players.

NEUTRALS (2, but only one "in-game")

GAIUS BALTAR AND HEAD-SIX:

Gaius Baltar, a brilliant scientist, was seduced by a woman on New Caprica. This woman was, in fact, a Cylon -- model Number Six. Unknowingly, he allowed her access to the defense database, which gave the Cylons the ability to decimate the Colonies. He is driven now solely by survival instinct; further, he sees a phantom version of Number Six (whether this is a manifestation of his guilt, a Cylon chip in his brain, or spiritual messenger of the Gods, he is unsure).

POWERS

Head-Six: Head-Six is purely a mason of Gaius, and in fact is not in the game proper. Consider Head-Six to be "sharing a hand" with Gaius, or as an advisor to Gaius; Head-Six's identity will be publically known, to ensure that no one talks to that player about the game. Head-Six cannot post in-thread, but can talk with Gaius Baltar privately at all times. Head-Six shares win conditions with Gaius.

Gaius Baltar: Gaius has both anti-Colonial and anti-Cylon powers.

- Sabotage: Gaius can halve the efficiency of Adama's vigilante shots or President Roslin's votebuying. He can only affect one (not both) when he uses this power, and he can only use it three times. This power must be submitted no later than 15 minutes after nightfall, like Roslin's votebuys -- if he is targeting Roslin for sabotage, it will halve the efficiency of her submitted votebuys; if he is targeting Adama, it will halve the efficiency of Adama's vigilante shots that night. This power is temporary and only lasts for that round; Roslin/Adama's powers will return to full-strength the following morning. They will be notified of the sabotage, but only AFTER it has occurred.

- Disinformation: Gaius can control one player's peek results at all times. For example, Gaius can submit a PM saying "Disinformation: Player X peeks as Cylon." Any peeks of this player will then return a Cylon result. Gaius can also falsify these results to read vanilla Colonial, any Colonial power role, Tom Zarek, or even himself (ie, he can make another player peek as Baltar). Baltar CANNOT falsify his own role. If Baltar chooses to change whose role he is falsifying, then his previous falsification is removed (ie, the new player will be peeked incorrectly, and his old target will now be peeked correctly). If a player's role is being falsified when he is eliminated, that player's death scene will reveal the TRUE role, not the falsified one.

- Informant: If the Cylons activate the tracking device, Baltar can elect to sacrifice part of his own powers in order to pre-emptively deactivate it. If Baltar elects to deactivate the tracking device, then it will appear that the device was deactivated by the village, that day's lynch will go through, and a player of his choice will be "outed" as a Cylon. Upon death, this player will be correctly role-revealed.

Baltar will also have a sub-plot; this sub-plot will allow him to gain power, but will also alter his win conditions. If he succeeds at this sub-plot, he will peek as a Colonial, but the Colonials will have to eliminate him to win.

Win conditions for Baltar and Head-Six: Variable; Baltar absolutely must outlast the Cylons, but his sub-plot may pit him against the Colonials as well.

ADAMA AND ROSLIN
Adama and Roslin will often be given the opportunity to earn additional one-shot powers that will be applied to vanilla roles. These opportunities will be irregularly scheduled, often privately presented, and have a variety of outcomes (including these powers going to a Cylon). Think CYOA.

Adama and Roslin will be advised of potential outcomes when the decision is presented. Strategizing or discussing the decisions themselves in-thread are forbidden, but discussing any powers that MAY have derived from them is allowed (again, think CYOA).

Okay, comments, go.

whee, let's play!

comments: I think while head six is a creative idea, having someone be an out-of-game mason with a neutral character would be somewhat boring for the head. maybe nix that role
