Default Just got an email from a girl at work...

My company was recently in need of an Account Coordinator (an entry level position). After several candidates and five rounds of interviews, HR finally hires this girl. She started working about two and half weeks ago. I just got an email from her. Wanna read it?:

[ QUOTE ]
Hi Everyone,

This is probably going to come as a bit of a shock, but after my short stint here at (company), I have decided to pursue employment elsewhere. I know that I was not here long, but in my time here, I have realized that account work really isn't the area I was looking to move my career toward. Since there are no positions currently available in copyrighting, I have decided to accept a job elsewhere. I feel that someone who is truly interested in account work and sees a long future here at (company) should have the opportunity to work with all of you. This was a very difficult decision for me to make, and I am extremely sorry for any inconvenience this may cause you, but feel that this is the best decision for everyone. My last day will be APRIL 20th, so please consider this email my official two weeks notice. It was a pleasure to get to know all of you and I will miss working with you. Thank you so much for the opportunity that was provided here and I am very sorry that it did not work out. Please feel free to contact me at any time on my personal email address: (email). If you have any questions or would like to discuss this in more detail please feel free to contact me.

All my best,

(Girl)

I hope you found the hidden gems in this email. But damn, is this ridiculously unprofessional or what? The great thing is that she didn't even notify HR. Instead, she sends out this resignation to everyone in the office she knew (about 30 people). Some of these people don't really even know her, but only met her once. Many people have already come into my office in shock to enjoy a good laugh about it.

So, I'm guessing she's not talking about protecting intellectual property here.

Yeah, it's unprofessional and not the right way to do things, but it could have been a lot worse.

Besides, it was entry level position.

Funny stuff, although I cringed a little bit when reading it as well. When I was in high school one of my "colleagues" wrote a similar letter of resignation from her cashier position at Burger King.

Whats so funny? Other than the fact she sent the email out to everyone and the misspelling, it's not that outlandish.

It's funny that she thinks she can stick around until the 20th. Why would you keep her around if she's that new?

When we got a similar e-mail from an employee we had her pack her stuff that day.

5 rounds of interviews for an entry level candidate, that's horrible.

Sometimes the job you take isn't what you think it is, you leave. Seems standard, non-shocking, and I think her email is fine beyond the fact that if it was sent today, that's not two weeks.
