Ender\'s Game movie
When IMDBing Amanda Peet, I stumbled upon the fact that her fiance David Benioff has an announced deal to make a movie of Ender's Game.
I'm really torn. Loved the book. Not sure it will translate well to film. Then again, LOTR did. Thoughts? |

Re: Ender\'s Game movie
won't translate well at all, LOTR had exotic creatures and big battles, ender's game has kids playing laser tag and ender using a computer game to control far off battles that he doesn't know are actually real.

Re: Ender\'s Game movie
Seriously? That was a decent series of books.
Depends on if they still define the character's ages, teenagers going to war against aliens. Could be a good market for a teen flick. Has Benioff done anything significant? Examples of his quality work thus far? I could IMDB it, but it'd ge tthis thread rolling perhaps. I jsut did. Apparently he penned the screenplays for the 25th hour and Troy. I'm not optimistic. |

Re: Ender\'s Game movie
I'd heard they'd never make it, because Card refused to let them make the movie w/o the original ages. And watching 6 year-olds kick eachother in the face is pretty rough (even in null gravity).

Re: Ender\'s Game movie
They could do the whole final bit of the book fairly well, but to make it interesting they'd have to actually show you that Ender was controlling a fleet, and not just playing a game. Maybe they could do that in some way without giving away the secret, I don't know.
But the whole child violence thing is definitely going to be a big issue, especially if Card is adamant about the ages of the children. Don't see why the studio would refuse an ethnically diverse cast. That's the way it's set in the book, and I don't really see that being all that big of a deal, or even an issue at all. |

Re: Ender\'s Game movie
Huge fan of the book.
They tried making it a while back with Haley Joe Osmond as Ender but that fell through. They would have to make it with kids of the proper age and ethnicity - that is what made teh story. |
