$100 NL: well-defined overpair faces donk from tag
BB is 18/10 after 100 hands. Notice the presence of the shortstack.
PokerStars No-Limit Hold'em, $1.00 BB (6 handed) Hand History Converter Tool from FlopTurnRiver.com (Format: 2+2 Forums) Button ($97) SB ($129.50) Hero ($114.25) UTG ($40.05) MP ($9.20) CO ($101.95) Preflop: Hero is BB with K[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img], K[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img]. How much do I raise to, if at all? I was considering calling the flop and check/folding to any turn and river action, but that seemed too weak. |

call would be my first choice, raise to 45-50 is ok too.

Re: $100 NL: well-defined overpair faces donk from tag
that's a nasty spot. I think here a read would be the most important point in figuring out the correct way to play this hand. W/o a read, I probably raise this x% of the time and call x%, a lot of it depending on my own image if i have one established on the table. By calling, you give draws great odds to draw on the flop and the possibility to take it away from you with some aggression, but by playing this way you can feel bettter getting the $ in on a safe turn card. Regardless, I hate this spot esp. w/ ppl to act behind you and I guess a fold isn't awful, becasue if he's even halfway decent and the money gets in then you're either smoked or racing with a good draw. Haha not sure what the correct play is here, interested in some more input.

I think you have to decide now whether or not you want to get stacked with this hand.
If you're not willing to get stacked, given the board. Then I think a call is best. If you're willing to get stacke with this hand. Then just raise it now. |

Re: $100 NL: well-defined overpair faces donk from tag
The short stack is moot. Call w/ plan to c/raise turn allin on safe card 1/2 the time. Raise big 1/2 the time. Would be nice to know if villian would donk a set this hard. He might if he's afraid of the board. But most the time your ahead here, so I like raising too.
