Default $1/$2 L08 3-handed

I've been playing very lag in $1/$2 HORSE on stars, and we're on 08.

I raise Th 8s Js Jh on the button, SB 3-bets, BB folds, I call.

Flop is Tc 2s 4h giving me just top pair, no low.
SB bets, I raise, SB calls.

Turn is 8d, giving me top two with a low now possible.
SB checks, I bet, SB check-raises, I call.

River is 7d.
SB bets, I call.

SB shows 9s Jc As Ac for the straight and scoops.

---

1) Does my flop raise suck? I wanted to buy a free card and bet if I improved.

2) Is SB's turn c/r terrible? We're fairly unknown to each other so this is for sure not metagame.

Probably thought you had A2xx or A3xx and were betting a low draw and figures his AA might be good just to call down (especially a bad idea at this point if you were to have A23x where the x card might pair or anything else for that matter).

If your opponent did have any sort of low draw, it might be difficult to get him off of it with any sort of raise.

I also don't quite get the check-raise unless he was holding A-3 along with the straight draw especially with flop raise.

I fold preflop. The 8 in your hand is essentially a dead card and jacks aren't very good against loose blind defenders. You can find a better spot than this. Why play lag in O8 at 1/2!?

Fold flop, call turn, call river. The flop... you have top pair. Whee? He probably has a lo draw and a few overs at worst. He could have a set, he could have an overpair and you're already skulled. Then the turn comes and now you probably have him beat for the hi, but the lo just got there. Check behind here. There's no value in betting at all, because he isn't folding and he either is getting half or all of it.

Playing a metagame at $1/$2 limit (especially Omaha) is a great way to lose a lot of chips.

People rarely understand its ok to fold Aces at that level.

You gotta check this turn behind. And yes his turn raise is rather disgusting.
