Multiple Beats at Sunset + 1 Brag
We go to Sunset Station every Monday afternoon.
We usually get there at 3pm after I finish work. I play Poker, the wife feeds the slot machines all my winnings * 2. My son plays at the playground. Everyone is happy. Not today. For some reason we don't get out of the house until later, we get there at 4. I head to the poker room to see lists 7 people deep and 2 tables running. I talk to the desk to see how long it will be: Desk: "Oh we just had the bad beat hit 15 minutes ago at Santa Fe Station - we're waiting to pay everyone it should be 40 minutes or so. We figure everyone will leave then so you should get a seat." I ask why they don't start a game now for all of us standing around. Desk: "Everyone will leave once they get paid so we don't want to break the two games we have." Me: OK, so I have an hour to play and I'm not going to be able to play even though we have 8 people standing here and a dealer picking her teeth? And you expect the games you have to break anyways? Desk: "That is correct." Me: OK, [censored] you then I'm leaving. Beat #1: 10+ people on lists, 1 dealer picking teeth, refusing to start a game. Didn't play at all. Beat #2: Lost about $400 in player share I would have made had we got there at the normal time. Beat #3: Sunset station Beat #4: Wife still lost plenty of money playing slots. Brag: Son had lots of fun at the playground. |

Re: Multiple Beats at Sunset + 1 Brag
I think it's pretty standard for a cardroom to hold off on opening a table until they basically have enough people to open 2 tables. They're always afraid of breaking up a game.
