Priscilla Queen of the Desert
Saw this film years ago (maybe 1996?) and was delighted to find it on ShowtimeHD yesterday. Hilarious and touching at once, the costumes and makeup steal the show. Guy Pierce is a long way from LA Confidential and Hugo Weaving's rubber face adds to this pre-Matrix, pre-LOTR Australian film. Here is the imdb page, and here is the Rotten Tomatoes page.
A quirky, strange odyssey with laugh-a-minute lines and excellent delivery. Superb cinematograpy, and as I said the costumes are great. I just wish they used less Abba, as I think the world could stand a lot less of them. If you see it on Showtime, you won't believe how enjoyable this film is. |

Re: Priscilla Queen of the Desert
Yep, it's a hell of a lot of entertainment, and a film I haven't seen in ages. Very engaging and well worth watching.
The leads all dragged up are really something to see. |
