cp 30 with straddles 7 handed...
straddler is bananabrain and i'm in bb with 77, folds to my bb and i 3-bet and we see a flop Ac Kh 5s i bet and he calls 8h i bet, he raises and i 3-bet... flame away

1) banana knows that you would three bet preflop with just about any holding; 2) If he had an Ace he would have 4 bet you preflop; 3) He believes that this flop probably didn't hit you; 4) He plans on raising just about any turn card; 5) he may actually have an 8 in his hand in which case your reraise may get him to fold.
Now the question is what do you do if he four bets? Assuming he doesn't you bet the river, right. Are you guys buddies or just regular combatants?

i don't know this game or that guy, so i vote for ugly. if he can do this with 72o and you can call down with 33 and be good, then that's fine, but then it's also probably too read-based to be of much use posting here [img]/images/graemlins/smile.gif[/img]

If you dont believe him just get to sd. If you think he has a better, but weak made hand just dump it. These situations always end up with both players going to showdown with way too many bets going in the pot where it is not really worth the return.

[/ QUOTE ] that is my impression as well. having a lagtardy image is fine if one knows when to apply it. this is not one of those times imo.

a few of the thoughts and background...
- i am laggy and brain knows it - brain raises the turn very often against me, with draws, air, and big made hands... i havent seen him do it with a marginal hand with showdown value thus far against me though... i figured he would fold an 8, 5, sometimes a bad king, and a flush draw that makes a pair on the river... the only big made hand that makes sense to me is 55, other hands pump it again preflop or raise the flop to see where they are... Q/J/T of hearts combo makes sense to me, i think a lot of his range is bottom pair or weak king trying to fsd someone help my thought process pls

bob, i appreciate the input... the reason i changed my vote at the table, and what i am now considering is that he knows i am a thinking player and so may lay some of the winners down... but i think our history outweighs that fact...
so, if i am not 3-betting with given history etc, do we like a call down on given board getting 1:4 by the river?
