Default If I can beat 0.25-0.50, can I beat 0.50-1.00?

In juli I worked my bankroll on Stars from 185$ up to 415$ (with a lot of swings in between of course) by playing 0.25-0.50. Played thousands of hands with a good winrate (about 2BB/100 I think).
But in August (when I reached the 400$ barrier) I moved up to 0.50-1.00 and it is going pretty bad since then. I went to 330, back to 380, but now I went all the way down to 300$. Should I worry about this or is this just a huge downswing..?

So if you are a winner on 0.25-0.50, can you beat 0.50-1.00 also then? Or am I just a winner at 0.25-0.50 but a loser at 0.50-1.00....is this possible?

I'm desperate...don't want to go broke but I donīt want to move back to 0.25/0.50 either..

So you've dropped 100 BB? That can be part of a normal swing.

yes of course it is possible but based on the info given we really cant tell much. FWIW 25c/50c games on stars are easier than their 50c/1 counterparts and 2BB/100 isnt exactly crushing 25c/50c.

There are a number of responses that I expect youll get in starting this thread but the one thing I want to say is that your post history suggests you are relatively new to poker and I want to clearly suggest is that you look inward to find leaks in your game. use the forum, reply to hands, do session reviews. realise that 100BB isnt a big loss but it can be an indicator you arent donig things quite right. you probably arent adjusting to the slightly tighter and more aggro 50c/1 games compared to the cushy 25c/50c ones.

Basically, you appear to have moved up to a slighty tougher limit and may well be getting outplayed. I also suspect you are playing 'scared' (because you said "I'm desperate...don't want to go broke but I donīt want to move back to ") and this will cause bad play. If so, take a break and assess your game. It is quite possible that you dont play as well as you think you do.

Post your Pokertracker stats for 25c/50c and 50c/1 and we'll take a look. Stats anomolies aint the be all and end all but they can give some pointers for you about things to look at.

Finally...to summarise. Do Session reviews and get more involved in the forum if you want to get better at poker and be careful about blaming your losses on bad luck...most losses are a combination of luck + sucky play.

Everyone else, 25c/50c v 50/1 has been discussed quite a number of times in recent times...anyone care to do a search, dig up some relevant posts and link them here? mkaythx.

levels don't really mean a lot .. poker isn't exactly like a video game

you started off running good then ran bad ... 2bb/100 is really good (most people aren't really good over the long run)

You don't have to "move back" just play both. Play enough .25/.50 to cover any losses you may have then play .50/1 as long as you are winning or staying above your targeted floor. In the process work on your game. Soon you'll be using the same approach to play 1/2 etc.

I play several levels a lot for different reasons. One of which is steady bankroll increase (even if slow )

0.50/1 is unbeatable. My suggestion is to move to 2/4 6-max. The rake is what is killing you. By the way, what's your screen name?

An easy +"move up" -"re:" yielded more than enough. Here a two recent and one for the fighting spirit.

First of all being desperate isn't a very good approach in life in general. Second.. Those micro games are not really different comparing to players style till the level 3-6. But this is my experience.

Swings are huge just keep thinking in terms of percentages and not money.

But in August (when I reached the 400$ barrier)

300 BB is enough for a full table game/10 players. Reaching 300 you could already go to the next level, instead of your 400. When you reach the 150 level only you return to the 0.25-0.50 ct table. Be conservative, but do not be afraid for flux. I have gone bad for 1week, winning it all back in one days. Hope this answers your question a bit.
