Would online poker benefit from 3rd party clients?

The collusion problem could be solved: They (the poker side) could publish a closed source client-side module (e.g. library) which could do all the collusion detection stuff. The third party GUI would have to use the modules interfaces to connect to the server.
This is technically possible but expensive to implement (for the poker side)...
