Re: Zito to Giants
Good for him. But what are the giants going to do after this year when Bonds retires/goes to jail? They've got a couple of decent pitchers and no offense.
2006 players with an OPS+ above 100 and over 100 AB's: Bonds Moises Alou (now a Met) Ray Durham (35 years old) Their big free agent signings on offense are Klesko and Dave Roberts. Ick. |

Re: Zito to Giants
Is this really that bad considering the other free agent deals given out this year? Good for Zito, at least he gets to stay in the Bay Area.

[/ QUOTE ] I guess not, but why would you give a 1.4 whip pitcher who is consistently in the top 5 in walks 7 years as the highest paid pitcher, when he hasn't been at an "elite" level since 2002? The Giants have relatively no young talent, and no farm system, and now they've got a guy locked up to ridiculous money. If anyone still considered Sabean a top 10 g.m., they've got a hard time justifying that opinion anymore. |
