I'm a huge fan of the series, so I was definitely predispositioned to like it. But it just wasn't done very well and seemed to be rushed. There were too many details left out, and the young Lecter did little to demonstrate the cunning hyper-intelligent personality of the character he becomes. Overall, a shallow movie. The idea/story was good, but the execution was off.

last watched DVDs:

Curse of the Golden Flower - '8/10'. Thought it was too much of a soap opera .. not enough fighting (I LOVED Hero, Crouching Tiger, etc)

The Protector - '7/10'. Tons of action sequences.. great fighting. Decent storyline if you can get over the fact that none of the bad guys carry guns.

Downfall - '9/10'. Story of Hitlers last days/hours. Really moving, superb acting.

Crank - '7/10'. High intensity, high action. We dont really get a connection with the characters, but too busy watching the fights/chases/shooting/fighting to care

Little Miss Sunshine - '8/10' Felt like I knew the characters. Believable and somewhat 'feel good' story

The Terminal - '8/10' Tom Hanks does such an awesome job here. Really genuine feel

Casino Royale - '7/10' The action didn't quit anywhere .. decently entertaining

El Diablo,

If you are going to watch Bus 174 you should also watch City of God. They are both very similar and focus on the same genre being the problem of poverty is brasil.
I have seen and enjoyed both movies but City of God is a more typical movie while Bus 174 is a documentary.

Beefest is now available for your view on HBO ON Demand.

You loved Super Troopers!

You thought Club Dred was bad, but there were titties and parts were funny so you gave them a pass.

DO NOT WATCH BEERFEST IT'S HARRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRIBLE.

I tend to watch or record most new movies that come out on HBO/showtime/etc.

Here are the ones I currently have on my DVR. Most of these movies suck, because most of the good ones I watch in the theater or watch right when they come out on cable. So these are mainly ones that I thought about seeing when they came out, but got crappy reviews, or maybe they have one actor I like or something (or were a bit obscure or i just missed them and sounded good or i heard were good).

Some don't even make it this far, like Step Up and John Tucker Must Die. But plenty of crappy ones do. Here's the list. Please share your opinions on how bad they really suck, and whether some are actually good.

I'm sure some of you have similarly crappy movies on your DVRs (or have wasted hours watching horrible movies on cable). Post your opinions here on what to catch/avoid:

invincible
last holiday
the da vinci code
waiting
lord of war
four brothers
the weather man
bubba ho-tep
the break-up
the omen

be here to love me: a film about townes van zandt
the assassination of richard nixon

The Girl Next Door was reasonably entertaining and had one of the great lines in recent cinema ("What would JFK do? Yo KNOW he'd tap that ass"), but it pales in comparison to Risky Business.

Totally, this movie and The Banquet were sooooo slow. More fighting, less melodrama please.
