Default Have I Turned Dumb Over the Years?

I'm 26. I'm a pretty bright guy, bit of a whiz kid through school, etc - do well in the IT field these days, blah blah.

I feel like my brain is not capable of playing 6-8 tables at once and maintaining any sort of read on opponents at all (outside of PAHUD and maybe noticing something crazy once in a blue) - forget about taking good notes and such.

Why is this? For you multi tablers, how much of the action at all these tables are you actually paying close attention to? Is it just a practice makes perfect thing, or is it just your brain >>> my brain?

blah I know to beat higher stakes you'd need better reads but so many solutions can be derived from PAHUD/PT stats that it's not too often I have a situation that I grossly misplay. I always try to catch big pots, one advantage of having no overlap.

When you are multitabling you make money on volume, but sacrifice alot of the ev you get from reads.

I think volume $ > pin-point read $.

I'm a big fan of the software forum here, and one that that I've been using recently that's helped out is the StarsHandHistories autohotkey script over there. it lets' you pull up the last played hand on any give table in an easy to read pokerhand.org style format. if I'm not immediately involved in a hand, I'll check the tables and see if there are any interesting hands I missed and take notes accordingly.

Other than that, i try to observe what I can and take meticulous notes on everything I do have time to watch.

reads are great for really marginal situations, which youre just gonna have to sacrifice if youre multitabling

yeah definitely.

however, for those of you that 12 table (myself included), it is important to play only a couple tables from time to time, focusing on reads/betting patterns/player types etc.

also, i have a lot more fun playing poker when i only have a few tables open and am really trying to focus on what the other players at the table are doing.

What sort of winrate do you guys at 6+ tables acheive? I feel like it's not unattainable to maintain around 10pt at low stakes when playing 2 or 3 tables always - but do you guys hit 5+ when doing 8-12 tables anyways?

Im 24 and I feel like Im way less smart than I was when i was 16.

I think playing more tables is fine if you are winning. I really noticed this difference however when I cut back a couple of tables (usually 6 to 4) and actually played poker.
