Default Randy, TT, et al Please Help RE: Dealer Counting Pot Rule

Hi all. I have a friend who would like some sort of proof that there exists a rule that states the dealer is not allowed to count the pot in no limit hold em.

I have searched Robert's Rules of Poker, and a book titled The Rules of Poker by Lou Krieger, and have not been able to find this rule in either publication. I have also searched the sites cardplayer.com and seriouspoker.com, all to no avail.

Can someone please verify that this rule does indeed exist? Also, if you can point me to a written publication with the rule stated, that would also help. Thank you very much in advance.

Of coutrse the dealer counts the pot . . how else does he know how much rake to take?

Look trying to cite an offical rule of poker is not really possible since there is no single body issuing official rules.

I would say that the reason the dealer can not tell a player how much is in the pot is because of the one player to a hand rule.

If your friend insists that the absence of an official rule that specifically states a dealer may not tell a player how much is in the pot means that the dealer can do this, then I assume he also will apply that logic to having the dealer tell a player who it was that raised in a prior betting round, or in a stud game what upcards have been folded.

Also, if you could point to a thread discussing this topic on 2+2, I would be very grateful. I am apparently not very skilled in using the search feature, as I was not able to find one relevant thread about counting pots. Thank you again.

You apparently aren't very skilled at reading either.
