Cold Caller Scares the Crap out of Me
Don't have the hand history. 600nl, 6max. I've been fairly aggressive but not reraising preflop too much. Villain is unknown, seems ok but a bit tightish. He has 845$, I cover.
Folded to CO who raises to 25$, I make it 80$ out of the SB with AQ of hearts. Villain (BB) cold calls, and I put him on a big hand, say JJ+ and maaaaaaybe TT or AK. CO folds. Pot is 185$. Flop comes A [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] K [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] 4 [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img]. I check, villain checks. Turn is a total blank, I check, villan pots it, I call. Pot is 555$. River is a total blank, and I check. Villain pushes for 580$, and I fold. Reasonable? Anyone have a different line? And no, I don't have any real reads on villain other than 'a bit tightish'. |

I think you should bet a bit smaller on the flop than you usually do.

Re: Cold Caller Scares the Crap out of Me
I would probably bet the flop and then be done with the hand. a)I will bet the flop with AAA b)I don't want to induce bluffs I can't call.

Re: Cold Caller Scares the Crap out of Me
I agree with your assessment of his hand range.
He's got balls of steal to to and bluff you out on this board, with a hand like QQ/JJ. I also like a flop bet, for the reason that TWP mentioned. |

Re: Cold Caller Scares the Crap out of Me
Hmm...Preflop is fine. I think the line on the flop is fine if you plan on c/fing any of his other lines for the other streets. Now if you plan on c/c for the 4th and 5th streets than I like to beat to find out where I stand. Doing so allows for you to save money on 4th and 5th street since you should find out where exactly you stand. Now the reason I think he checks the flop is to induce a lead from you on 4th. So I think that you should fold to his bet on the turn because I really don't know what you are hoping for here. That he checks the river? Seems unlikely here especially cause of his stack. And I don't think there are any river cards that are going to improve your hand.
