Gmail/iGoogle quirk

I use a google\ig homepage, which displays the first few items in my gmail inbox. It used to be that I would click on an inbox item and that email would open in a new window. As of about a week ago, the new window simply opens my inbox and I have to click a message again to read it. I'm pretty sure this is a google thing, not something on my end, but I was wondering if anyone else has noticed this.
