tuq,

While I believe darko's roaming is true, i think that Dallas is/was a home base. He'd obviously have to confirm this.

"Prediction Time
Oh man, everybody is jumping on this Celtics band wagon. You know what? I was going to go prediction-free for the whole year, but I guess I’m going to break that now.

Now, if anybody remembers back when I got drafted, I got a report back that the reason I dropped so far in the draft was that Jim O’Brien of the Celtics said that I was too immature and that I wasn’t ready for the NBA. What really happened was that I had an Achilles injury and I went back to L.A. to go get it healed when I was supposed to have a two-day workout in Boston with O’Brien. He didn’t like that. So word came back to me that he was trashing me and it put this knife through my chest about the Boston Celtics.

Back in the day when I would day dream I thought that if I could score 100 points against any team it would be the Boston Celtics. Now, I knew it would never happen, but if I could do one thing in the NBA it would be to score 100 against Boston. So anyway, since everybody is back on the Boston bandwagon it brought back old memories. So listen here. On November 2nd, we’re going to go into that building, we’re opening up Boston. Right now I’m telling the Boston fans: You guys are going to lose. It’s not going to be a victory for Boston. You might as well just cheer for me, because Boston isn’t winning in Boston for the season opener. I’m sorry. "

OMG I have some serious man-love for Gilbert.

Durant PPG: O/U 16.5

[/ QUOTE ]

Way way over. I'd say 26.5.

[/ QUOTE ]

I'll take the under for whatever you want to bet

[/ QUOTE ]

How many PPG do you think he'll average?

[/ QUOTE ]

Less than 26.5 please bet me.

[/ QUOTE ]

LOL....

If my prediction is that he gets 26.5 that means that I think theres a 50% chance he gets more that that and a 50% chance that he gets less than that. Obviously you think that he will get much less than that. Why on earth would I make that bet? Moreover, I'm sure I can get a much better line at a sportsbook.

Just because someone predicts something doesn't mean that they'll bet on it happening.

[/ QUOTE ]
Assani,
I think most people make predictions because they feel they are likely to happen. That being said. I would still like to bet with you how about 24.5 as a line?

[/ QUOTE ]

This is incorrect. If I asked you who will win the NBA title and you say the Spurs, does that mean that you think theres a greater than 50% chance that the Spurs win?

Or in this case, if I predict that a guy will score around 26.5 PPG that means that I think theres an equal chance that he scores a little more or a little less than that.

I'll ask you again: What is your prediction for number of points he scores on the year?

This is true because some people are trolls or pussies, FWIW.

Raptors regular season tickets went on sale yesterday. I managed to snag tickets to 6 games. Celtics twice, Suns, Bulls, Sonics, and Lakers.

Pretty excited for this season. I like the addition of Kapono and Bargnani should be better, but I have a nagging feeling that we overachieved last year. Guess there's only one way to find out.

Where will my Grizzlies be in the west? I think no I KNOW they've improved. But so have many other teams. Well LA Lakers a couple others havn't. I know they aren't like going to win it all or anything. I'm just hoping we sneak into the playoffs and win one game. that's all it would take WIN ONE FRIGGIN PLAYOFF GAME!!!!!

No. I think most rational people would conclude that I think the Spurs have a greater chance of winning than any of the other 29 teams. The only situation where you could imply a 50%+ chance of winning from that statement would be before the Finals where there were only two participating teams.

The Durant o/u of 16.5 is way too low. Your o/u of 26.5 is way too high.

You're forecasting that Durant's average expected PPG production for his rookie year will be the 7th highest in NBA history. On average. 6th in history is Jordan's 28.2 PPG. And Jordan was 21 at the time. Durant will be 19. The highest NBA rookie scoring averages in history by a 19-year old are Melo (21.0) and LeBron (20.9). I don't think that Durant is as good as either of them were at a similar stage (they were each more physically advanced), but their situations are comparable - horrible teams built around their star rook. The only thing I'd throw in there is that Seattle is probably even more horrible than either Cleveland or Denver at the time, which probably isn't a good thing for Durant or his production. We'll see though. I think a fairer o/u for Durant would be around 20.

Guaranteed to be in the lottery, so shelve those playoff fantasies.

Seattle, Minnesota and Portland are worse...maybe Sacramento too. Everyone else is better. Memphis would need to pass New Orleans, the Clips and Golden State/LA Lakers in order to make the playoffs. No chance.

Memphis lineup:
PG Conley/Lowry - below-average to well-below-average
SG Miller/Navarro - average to below-average
SF Gay/? - average to below average (with off chance of above-average)
PF Gasol/Warrick - all-star
C Milicic/Swift - average to below-average

Memphis gives something up at nearly every position to nearly every other team in the West.

thanks for your input. I don't know that I agree with you on the SG tho. AFAIK they havn't bought out Damon S yet. If they do then I have to pray that Lowry is as awesome as people are saying. I also hope you're underestimating Mike Miller. I guess what he's done in the past doesn't mean a lot. But he won rookie of the year (I agree LONG time ago) but just year before last he won 6th man of the year. I don't think his skills have declined since then.

I'll also be a hopeful homer and cross my fingers about Milicic. His numbers were up in Orlando. I agree if they thought he was going to be near his initial potential then Orlando would have at least tried to work something out.

I totally agree with you about Strotential. He's got the competetive juices of a bum.

Mike Miller is above average. In fact, he's quite good.

Conley is an unknown and Gay has the chance to be very good.

This lineup features 4 guys that I'd want on almost any team, so they may surprise people.

That said, I dont see them in the playoffs either.
