How do I keep myself from doing this?

Sometimes a hand comes up where theres alot of money in a pot and a decision to be made. Sometimes, however, I know the right decision may be to fold, but I decide to gamble. I know you guys will probably ocme down on me, but I think alot of people have this problem from time to time, and thats why I decided to post it. Take a look at this hand:

I was pretty sure I was beat here, but something in my mind wouldn't let me throw this away. My thought process of the hand was I'd reraise preflop and if he 3bet me I would throw it away, but I ended up deciding to make the call.

Does anyone have any tips for me and fellow 2p2ers with this type of problem?

By getting tired of having your money go down the drain. There is no secret formula. You just get yourself some discipline and you stop doing it. No one to blame but yourself.

Well, I think you will usually be flipping in this situation. However, you are never really ahead here. You are either flipping with an underpair or are crushed by AK or QQ-AA. I dont see villian doing this with AJ or anything less

You can't rush this game. Does this happen when you are running badly?

Do you know what you should be doing in this situation?

Yeah I knew it was a fold the whole time. I think I was running ok when it happened, although I think im more prone like most people to do this kind of thing when I'm running badly. Its just a funny impulse I don't know. Just couldn't hit fold for some reason. I have to work on that.

I went through a phase of this and i can't honestly tell you what brought me out of it except becoming a better player in general.

It's all in the head really, you get used to things, im a couple buyins down this hour, dissappointed, but not playing any differently.

When the game gets you down, take a break.

Tell yourself there are better spots to play for stacks preflop, click fold, and move on to the next hand.

That is one of the many forms of tilt.

Take a deep breath and fold and pretend that he had AA (even if he shows you that he had 72o) and move on.

Depending on CO's stats - especially if he hasnt been stealing much - I don't even call this in the SB, let alone re-pop him preflop. At this level you WILL see shove monkeys that will try this with K3s but you need a solid read before you can call that all in, and you probably didn't have that here.
