Any NESters here?
I got pretty hard into retrogaming in the past couple years, focusing mainly on classic NES. Got about 400+ different carts. Hoping to be complete (less a few ultra rarities) by the end of this year. My fiancee says I can't buy any more uprights until I'm complete on NES carts, which blows
Anyone else into NES? |

Re: Any NESters here?
Yes, I have it hooked up and play it pretty much daily. I never had it as a kid (my parents were big into PCs instead and said hat since I had a PC, I didn't need a video game system), so call it nostalgia, but I purchased the ststem a couple years ago, and play it often.
It doesn't exactly blend on my credenza being next to a Gamecube,PS2, and N64, but whatever works. It is rather humerous seeing 8 bit graphics on a 50" plasma screen, but makes for a truly fun and detailed gameplay. The big screen is great for 3-4 player action on Mario Kart on GC or N64, though. The games I play the most are Tetris, SMB 1-3, and Q Bert. I have purchased a FC Link system in lieu of an SNES system, since it is now available. Looking forward to gaming on that when it arrives (specifically the Mario games, which are my continual favorites). |

Re: Any NESters here?
I love the NES and used to play a lot of it. I mostly play Wii Tennis now, but still enjoy the 8 bit games.
My collection of ~80 carts is feeble compared to yours, but I have most of the goodies. What do you consider the true gems of your collection? Can you beat micro machines? The computer always cheats me out in the last batch of races. |

I know people do it, but it just never appealed to me to not play the game on the real console. However, now I have a newer computer (my other one was 7 years old) that can run NES emulators smoothly, and I'm realizing that with a USB controller I can play Ducktales 2 and whatever else I want... Are there any problems with using one? |

I think the PCs advantages of never having trouble booting and carry physical cartridges almost balance out the loss of nostalgia feel. |

Re: Any NESters here?
What emulators are you guys using? I realized today that my NESticle is like 12 years old. I've really been out of it. It ran great on my old machine but my new computer slows down badly if I'm playing a game that has a lot of flashing screens (lightning effects, Link grabbing a Triforce in Zelda 1, entering a random fight in Dragon Warrior or Final Fantasy, etc.)
