As to OP, the first thing that popped into my head was a Russian home remedy for colds/flus that I've been made to endure a few times. Phonetically it's called "Goghle moghle" (shutup) and consists of a glass of warm milk with tablespoons of honey (I hate honey) and... a raw egg. While I understand that the protein boost this sloppy mess possesses may have been beneficial to the average 16th century communist, the fact kids are still forced to choke this [censored] down should be a human rights violation.

The grossness of this concoction reminds me of a disgusting-tasting cough syrup called Buckley's, which basically tastes, and has the consistency of, what I would imagine koala sperm to be like.

Tik,

I agree it tastes horrible, however it clears up a cough like no other.

I tried this in Kuala Lumpur. Carlsberg Royal Stout with Ginseng. It started out okay, but after a few more gulps it turned out to be pretty nasty.

Vichy soda sold at Stewart's.

Actually I love Vichy Water. My grandparents always had it on hand when I was growing up and I can't find it anywhere these days.

They had a powder that you would mix in with water to make it.

Yeah, I remember traveling in Italy when I was 17. It was a warm day and I stopped by a corner grocery store for a cold fruity drink. Pulled an Orangina-sized bottle of what looked like cherry punch out of the refrigerated section, paid for it, took a huge slug of it and almost vomited on the spot. That was my introduction to Campari.

I tried Tibetan Tea once, we had it in Darjeeling, India (where a lot of Tibetans now live due to the Chinese regime). It's made using yak's milk + butter, plus rice IIRC.

It was totally disgusting - it tasted like a hotdog puréed and poured, its mouthfeel and salty taste did nothing for my appetite. But, being the polite and well-meaning travellers my friend and I were (plus being in a Tibetan cafe) we drank it up. EEeeeeeeeeeeuch. Seeing yaks on tv reminds me now how horrible it was.

Jenny's worst was apparently in Indonesia, when their driver stopped and picked up this huge green coconut thing, cut it open and stuck straws into it. She says it tasted like nappy water smells, totally foul.
