nothing is really exciting me about the TV's either. i have my heart set on a 46" or 52" Samsung, and there's nothing even close to that yet. i may be using my onecall.com gift certificates from stars and pricematching with amazon.com to get a good deal.

LOL, yeah, there's no way this could possibly be accurate.

I plan on doing the 4am thing this year. Some of the deals are just too good to pass up. I'm looking forward to the Best Buy BF flyer.

The people I don't understand are the idiots that go shopping on "Black Friday" but like late morning or afternoon.

You either have to go balls to the wall and get there at 4am or don't bother. What is the point of showing up after all of the great deals are done, but you still have to put up with the millions of people?

Tip: Whichever store you want to go, find the one in the richest and smallest town around you. I've found that ones near cities/colleges seem to be the worst, and its not just size of population, its what % of that population is still up at 4am

But seriously, I was mainly looking for a good TV deal this year, but finding a good deal thus far as many other posters have stated has been a problem. Other than that I could care less.

It's not even the biggest sales day of the year, so that's false.

[/ QUOTE ]

I don't think the two are mutually exclusive.

[/ QUOTE ]

Of course they are mutually exclusive. If a store has 50% of its sales on a single day, then obviously the remaining 50% has to be divided among 364 other days. There is no way it can account for 50% of sales if it is not the biggest shopping day of the year.

The original post of the chain said "some stores." It may be the fifth or sixth biggest sale day of the year in total, but some specific retailers could clear 50%. Nitpicking LDO.

99% of stores don't do anywhere near 50% of their biz on Black Friday. For the major players who have the big sales that day this is very much true. The Saturday before Christmas is the biggest volume day for these stores usually. Was the case 4 of the past 5 years.

I've heard of people slightly raising prices and advertising it as a Black Friday sale.

[/ QUOTE ]

The standard move is to double all your base prices then advertise 50% off.

Smart people buy their gifts on Dec. 27 and celebrate in January.
