Default 5/10 Value betting too thin?

FullTiltPoker Game #2510883333: Table Wild Wave (6 max) - $5/$10 - No Limit Hold'em - 0:47:39 ET - 2007/05/26

The button is in seat #6
*** HOLE CARDS ***

SamH133 calls $25
*** FLOP *** [5d 2h Js]

BlackGoblin bets $65
SamH133 calls $65
*** TURN *** [5d 2h Js] [As]
tdogg99 has returned
SamH133 checks

SamH133 calls $180
*** RIVER *** [5d 2h Js As] [9s]
SamH133 checks
BlackGoblin has 15 seconds left to act
BlackGoblin bets $1,952.50, and is all in

SamH113 seems like a good player/hand reader but I have not played with him long enough to have any really good lines on his play. What are your thoughts on his river range and what I should do versus it? I am not sure if a shove is higher EV then a check. I have been agressive this session, definitely double barreling a lot and c-bet almost all flops.

Meh, I probably check back river, but since he knows the A is a good card for you to bet, I can see v betting this river this thin.

Puke- he NEVER calls with worse here- what were you thinking?
Also, certain hands that beat you- such as low two pair often fold river. Sorry, but this is completely retarded unless you have a specific read on him and are bluffing.

LOL- didn't see that. I think its close- bet if he is a station and you have been playing aggressively. Check if he is tight/solid.

this is completely wrong. i would like this a little better if the river wasnt a spade bc it's possible now that he's c/cing some hands that beat us but i think he has a J here a lot and we need to be able to bet AT like this if we ever want to be able to run believable bluffs as part of a balanced game

Sir Moonshine/all who think this,
Do we think that a 9s vs an offsuit 9 changes the % chance we get paid off with worse/have the best hand enough to move a value bet to a check? Is this how thin this bet is that a backdoor flush changes whether or not we can make it?

Not sure I understand completely.
