Forum project: need some design help

I've got a site set up on drupal. I found a template that I like. I want to customize that template a bit, but I'm not really an expert on style sheets and layout. Looking for someone that might be able to lend a little assistance or a (free) tool that will make div/stylesheet stuff easy. Thanks!
