edit:

furthermore, being mad and angry all the time (more hands you play, the more hands you're going to lose, and conversely win) is really unhealthy and will greatly limit the amount of poker you can play, negatively affect your game, real life, and overall health.

Dammit, you used to be one of my favorite posters. Now you're starting to sound sensible and mature. Please get drunk and try again.

Just got essentially the "friends" speech from the nurse girl. My response:

"I'm not looking for friends. See you later."

They even said in one of the reports that road construction was being done a few miles away... So why in God's name wasn't the bridge being worked on?

[/ QUOTE ]

I lived in minneapolis about three years ago (in fact, at one point I used to commute across this bridge). Minnesota is hot in the summer and ridiculously cold in the winter. This amount of radical temperature change wrecks havoc with the roads.

This isn't to say that this wasn't a horrible situation that could have been avoided but that people in Minnesota are *already* spending a huge amount of tax money for the DoT, and there is *always* roadwork going on pretty much everywhere when the roads aren't under snow.

wiggs,

different subject matter, related tho.
im bad at taking out my anger on money

[/ QUOTE ]

It's not about taking anger out. I'm not yelling at the screen every single minute or anything, it's just releasing anger once in a while. Isn't that a good thing?

It's ridiculous, I mean on the one hand I understand if the state DOT is understaffed / underfunded. But at the same time, if it's people's lives you're dealing with, I think something ought to be done... I mean there should be SOME way to get properly staffed and funded so stuff like this doesn't happen. Maybe I'm just naive about the inner workings of issues like this or whatever, but seems pretty common sense to me that if you have a bridge that may or may not collapse, you should go all out to try to fix it.

Some points from Twin Cities news shows today.

The Feds require bridges like this to be inspected every 24 months. Minnesota inspects them every 12 months.

The last couple of inspections noted some metal fatigue that did not present any immediate safety issues, but indicated that the bridge should be considered for repair or replacement at some point in the future.

The bridge was a steel structure with a concrete deck (roadway). A concrete crew was working on the bridge, resurfacing the deck, when it collapsed.

$114 players:
How hard is it to keep 8 tables going in the evening? I'm currently just mixing 60s and 114s. It doesn't seem like it's possible to keep 8 114s going. Do I just need to wait a couple minutes?

Lately they've been going more often than the $60s. Probably because now with you and BB John there's like half 2p2ers on each one.
