He's gotta be on either next episode or the one after, because the lineup posted in either his or Irie's thread is identical to the one on now.

I don`t want to judge Baxter, Safei and Brandon Adams (?) but I actually don`t understand why they pick those guys. Nothing against them but there are players outthere who have a name and make good TV.

What about Ivey (of course), Benyamine, Hansen, Townsend, Chip Reese? Even consider europeans like Luske or Ulliot. Tony G also could be a good addition.

Anyone has insight on why the producers pick who?

I have to clarify and correct you Wheels. Firstly, as has been mentioned, the reason they select at least 1-3 unknown amateurs (Baxter, Safai, Chamanara, Nassiri) is because the pros aren't going to want to play a NL Hold'em cash game with one another. What sort of pro is going to risk $100-$500k against 7 of the best players in the world? It's fairly obvious (especially if you watch season 1) that the pros make a concerted effort to beat the fish and avoid big hands with one another.

Also, Brandon Adams should not be grouped in with Safai and Baxter. I'm guessing you mean Brian Brandon? While Brandon Adams hasn't had much TV time in his poker "career" I can assure you he plays in some of the biggest cash games in the world on a daily basis, has the respect of alot of the pros at the table and is a tremendous player.

That`s a good answer, thank you. I probably just wish to see a hardcore lineup playing high stakes with players like Antonius, Ivey, Townsend, Negreanu, Benyamine, Hansen, Greenstein, Brunson...

But if you look at the televised Fulltilt Poker Cash Game, their table also was full of pros with one exception if i am correct. The same goes for the Aussie Millions Cash Game, as there was only one "amateur" at the table besides top pros.

And of course i meant Brian Brandon regarding HSP.

Well most of those you mention, with the exception of Reese who probably isn't that good of a nl player anyway, have appeared on HSP.
Last season of course saw probably the best table hsp has seen yet when Ivey, Antonius, Townsend, Daniel, Booth, Benyamine, Dags and Antonio at one point all appeared together.
Frustatingly of course the other table with all the usual suspects saw a lot more of the tv time.

It would be very cool to see a tv table with the truly best nl cash game players but that of course would mean a lot of "unknown" online players had to be included which I'm guessing the producers would resist.

Personally I would love to see a deepstacked plo game but that probably won't happen.

seriously..... how the hell do they find players like safai who prob couldn't beat small stakes online.

[/ QUOTE ]

If somehow a bet could be made whether any of these players could beat 2/4 NL online (over say a 50K hand sample), I would bet against 5-6 of the 8 players sitting right now.

Great. Now find good players who want to play at a table with no weak link.

[/ QUOTE ]

are you kidding? these games are hilariously soft for the stakes

[/ QUOTE ]

Are you telling me that calling any bet with anything suited that can possibly make a straight--and never reraising anything ever preflop--is soft? Well this changes everything.

I think there was a post by Jman a while back saying he only played for half a day because someone else turned up and took his seat. He was playing quite short because he was saving the main part of his buy-in for the following day, and hence very nitty which doesn't make good TV. And in the end it looks like he might have been edited out completely.
