Default Moving the \'fonts\' folder on XP

So a friend of mine does a lot of artwork stuff and I'm going to wipe out and reinstall her OS and programs because her computer is hosed. She's very worried about the Fonts folder and all the fonts in it. Can I just copy these off to another drive and then put them back once I reinstall? I seem to remember hearing about people having to 'install' fonts so I just want to make sure I don't hose anything up.

Thanks!
Mark

I believe that by copying fonts into the C:\Windows\Fonts folder will automatically install them.
