[ QUOTE ]
It is their JOB to sometimes be in harms way. Sorry, that was on the application.

[/ QUOTE ]

Their life is still on the line. They are human beings and would rather live then die, so when they are storming a house where a criminal is known to be armed, they are going to take the proper precautions.

[ QUOTE ]
Also, with all the "training" these idiots receive, why is it that time-after-time we hear about how "70 shots" (example) where fired. These fucktards need to empty multiple clips every [censored] time they discharge their weapons??

[/ QUOTE ]

I won't refute that this case was retarded, however, there are bad apples that come with anything. Not every cop in the world is an idiot like that.

[ QUOTE ]
Face it, we simply do not spend enough money on the police. If these idiots had proper pay & training, this type of [censored] wouldn't happen every [censored] day.

[/ QUOTE ]

I don't claim to know how much money each state spends on the police. However, most police are not idiots, but they are the only police that you will hear about.

but one of the important lessons to take from this is that when confronted with somebody who can legally make you dead, don't [censored] around.

[/ QUOTE ]
Was there anything in the story that suggested that the suspect "[censored]" around? The best I can find is he might have had a controller in his hand (which sounds like arse-covering to me) and that he didn't answer the door promptly enough.

[/ QUOTE ]

If they had to knock in the door, I would wager yes.

The story linked hardly provides enough context and information for everybody be be assuming the cops [censored] up.

"Roommate Mike Rhoton said Strickland was unarmed, but may have been holding a video game controller when he went to the door as it was bashed in by officers."

Maybe he was playing duck hunt.

Couldn't be that he just didn't hear them, playing the PS3 too loud?

And you're quite right about the linked story not providing much. Not even enough to justify weak, blame-the-victim "lessons".

I agree with By-Tor here. Most cops are [censored] who need to assert their power. [censored] the police!

BCPVP,

If you're taking what I said as "blame the victim", you're missing my [censored] point all together. It's not about blaim, it's about taking what you've learned and using it was an object lesson moving forward.
