Early Morning Street Construction
Every (weekday) morning for the past 40 days or so, I've been awakened at the lovely hour of 7am by a construction crew tearing up my street. Heavy machinery treading around 20ft. from my bedroom is enough to shake the foundation of my home and the noise is pretty unbearable (think nails on a blackboard for the tracks of the machines). Also this morning there were apparently trees in the way so a chainsaw was added to the mix for a few hours.
Now the problem with this is my sleep pattern. I usually get to bed at like 3-4am and awaken at 2-3pm. A case can be made that my pattern is not the norm and is slightly unusual, but I'm sure many posters in this forum can relate. What can I do though about losing most of my deep-sleep time and is it "right" for this construction to be going on in a residential neighborhood at such an hour? I've included a poll, let me know what you would do. |

Re: Early Morning Street Construction
the city can make all the noise they want from like 7 am -10pm. most people will complain if they do it later (plus they have to pay the guys more) so they do it in the morning. get some ear plugs, and sleep with them in.

Re: Early Morning Street Construction
Try living on a major street in a big city where all construction is done at like 1 am so as to not interfere with traffic.

[/ QUOTE ] i never got why someone who has no alarm clock necessary to wake them wouldnt wear ear plugs. before i had a job i wore them and slept much better. i wish they had ear plugs that vibrated when you were supposed to wake up or somesuch so i could wear earplugs and wake up when i needed to. rj |

Re: Early Morning Street Construction
I've tried, but my whole house shakes from the heavy equipment they use. When they are tearing up the foot thick slab of concrete outside your house which is the sidewalk...nothing short of a coma is going to keep you asleep.

Re: Early Morning Street Construction
Also, I would understand if the construction began at 9am and wouldn't have a problem with it, but 7am is not the time the world usually wakes up at.
