Default I left my number for a hostess for the first time...

so yesterday, after a long soccer match, i decide i want sushi, bad. so i go down to my favorite santa cruz sushi'ery Mobo Sushi for some delicious delights. im wearing my sweaty fc barcelona jersey and an old sweatshirt over it with my addias soccer shorts and shiney nike boots, so im sure i look like a total tool.

anyways, i immediately recognize the hostess as this girl i dated in high school. im making a takeout order so i go to her. she looks up with a blank face for a second, but then breaks into a "oh my god, i didnt recognize you" gives me a hug and tells me i look great(f yeah!). this girl is just like a total gorgeous surfer chick, works at a gym and was in absouletly fabulous shape(i just checked to see if she had a myspace for picture purposes, she doesnt).

so anyways, its incredibly busy and while im sitting next to the server station she is gone pretty much the entire time seating people. she finally grabs my order and i give her my platinum citibank card(balla!, jk) and she rings me up, gives me the reciept, tells me it was great to see me and hurries off to help more people.

i give her a 5 dollar tip on an 18 dollar order and on the back write "(her name), give me a call sometime! 555-3865. -ryan."

it was the first time ive tried a play like this as i usually think its kind of silly. decent spot?

I prefer handing them my number directly, but this is probably a good spot to make some sort of move in general.

Giving your number to a hostess you have previously dated doesn't qualify.

Do it on the front of the receipt, not the back. Or better yet, just say it. My fear is that she'd never flip the damn thing over to read what you wrote.

Is it common practice to tip on takeout orders?

PITTM,

I actually saw a guy do this not too long ago, and coincidentally it was at a Sushi/Hibachi spot. It our waitress that this happened to and we were here first table after reading it and she told us all about it and how cheesy it was. She then went to all of the hostesses and other waitresses and showed them the note and they all laughed and sighed. When she came back again she said she didn't understand it, if someone wanted to actually take her out, and/or get to know her, they need to have the balls to actually do this in person...leaving notes to and her female co-workers was a sign of weakness is basically what I got out of it.

Also, my gf was a bartender/waitress for awhile a few years ago and she hated this as well. But hey, it may work for you!

Wow, didn't notice that. No way do I give a tip here. Write "you will get a tip if you call me."

when i saw her about 2 years ago she had the kind of hick boyfriend who would come destroy someone if they talked to her gf. this way i left the contact completely up to her. i left the reciept in one of those black credit card/bill jackets with the back/my writing face up.
